Brain Day

A glimpse into a fascinating world—that’s what happens once a year at Ruhr University Bochum when neuroscientists invite guests to Brain Day.

For many people in the Ruhr area, Brain Day is a permanent fixture on their yearly schedules. Since 2011, we have welcomed the public to this event at the university’s conference center. Originally founded by SFB 874 in 2011, the baton was passed to the IGSN in 2023. This major outreach event takes place every September in collaboration with partners such as the Research Department of Neuroscience.

We bring together scientists, clinical researchers, patients, self-help groups, and the general public to discuss and experience the latest discoveries from the Bochum neuroscience community. Each year, hundreds of visitors attend Brain Day, enjoying a diverse program of lectures, information stands, and interactive activities that offer an insight into neuroscientific research.
