05.12.2025 — Graduation Day 2025
On December 5, 2025, researchers, staff, and guests gathered for Graduation Day to recognize the latest IGSN graduates as they received their PhDs in Neuroscience. The event included research presentations, poster prizes, and the formal conferral of degrees. The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Denise Manahan-Vaughan, the director of the IGSN.

In September 2025, the International Graduate School of Neuroscience (IGSN) and the Research Department of Neuroscience (RDN) invited interested visitors to the 14th Brain Day at Ruhr University Bochum. Approximately 450 guests accepted the invitation and enjoyed a diverse program of lectures and interactive activities designed for anyone interested in science.

In an interview with SRF 4 News, Prof. Denise Manahan-Vaughan, Dean of Studies of the International Graduate School of Neuroscience discusses, new findings on neurogenesis. A Swedish study has shown that even in adulthood, the brain can still generate new nerve cells, particularly in the hippocampus, the structure essential for memory formation.

On December 13, 2024, researchers, staff, friends, and family came together on Graduation Day to honor the 2024 graduates, who had completed the IGSN program and would finally receive their PhDs in Neuroscience. The warm welcome of the speaker of the IGSN Prof. Dr. Katrin Marcus-Alic began the festivities. As is the tradition, current IGSN PhD researchers presented their work to the audience.
