International Graduate School of Neuroscience

Overview

The International Graduate School of Neuroscience (IGSN) of the Ruhr University Bochum was founded in 2001 as part of an initiative by the Ministry of Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Currently host to ca. 40 PhD candidates, the IGSN offers a PhD program that integrates research with an educational curriculum and which qualifies young scientists to compete at the highest level of international neuroscience.

Multidisciplinary research projects are offered in areas such as developmental, molecular, systems, cognitive, clinical, or computational neuroscience. They are pursued by PhD candidates from disciplines such as biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics, medicine, neuroinformatics, physics, and psychology. Their common denominator is their academic excellence and their determination to pursue a career in neuroscience.

Tuition is conducted by internationally recognized top scientists from all areas of neuroscience. The educational curriculum is supported by monthly symposia with top international neuroscientists, regular international training visits by our PhD candidates and complementary skills training.
